J.F.A. or JFA is the common notation for the Phoenix, Arizona skatepunk band Jodie Foster's Army (a twisted reference to John Hinckley's attempt at murdering Reagan just days before the band formed).
The band was made up of skater friends Brian Brannon - vocals, Don Redondo - guitar, Mike Cornelius - bass, & Mike ‘Bam Bam' Sversvold - drums. One of the footnotes to this great band is that Sun City Girls alum Alan Bishop played bass for the band at one time (1984-1986).
JFA was hugely responsible for the rise & enjoyment of skatepunk.Their first gig was opening for Black Flag. JFA's first national tour was in the summer of 1983 following the release of their first full-length album Valley of the Yakes.
