Sterling work, kind sir!
ReplyDeleteExcellen! Very nice to be reminded of this. Thanks a lot, Nate!
ReplyDeleteThanks guys.
DeleteThis album is simply phenomenal! Any other albums from this label? Did this album, Dormannu - Return of Quebec 1985, catch my eye? Thanks for posting.
ReplyDeleteThe Leer& Rental song comes from the great album "The Bridge"
ReplyDeleteGreat to be reminded of these sounds
Cheers
Diego
Yeah, I have The Bridge on a list I'm compiling for next month. Good call. Like Minds...
DeleteCheers to you, brother.
Yee gads! This is a good one. Thanks for sharing the sturm & klang!
ReplyDeleteRidin' the Storm, Cap'n.
DeleteDorothy was the drummer from Rema Rema, but jazz singer Elizabeth Welch was an odd choice for Industrial. The front of the single sleeve says "From Derek Jarman's TEMPEST", and the back indicates that it's "A Boyd's Co. Production" -- so maybe Boyd Rice recommended it to TG?
ReplyDeleteWell, I guess even labels like Industrial wanted some variety in their VAs.
DeleteThanks! Nice, if incongruous, to hear "Stormy Weather" from the finale of Derek Jarman's third feature film, an adapration of The Tempest, with Toyah as Miranda, etc. (That creep Boyd Rice had nothing to do with it.) Over that decade TG, PTV & Coil all collaborated here and there with this most artistic of British directors. My favourite TG album is their OST to Jarman's In The Shadow Of The Sun (1984, also on Illuminated Records.) Ambient Throbbage abounds.
