Taiwan

First is this album presenting music of the minorities of the island of Taiwan.

The album is broken into sections devoted to: the Hakka, who are a branch of the Han people of Northern China; the Atayal from the northern mountains of Taiwan; the Ami from the Taitung Valley; the Bunun who are hill-siders in the south; the Rukai from south of the Central Mountains; the Puyuma from the south of Taitung; & the Paiwan from the southern tip of Taiwan. The majority of the works are rather sparse instrumentally. They are primarily group vocal pieces.
