What Kinda Bath Tub Do You Have?

The other day a frequent visitor / occasional commenter left word over at another post that a couple links were no longer good to some music by one of my all-time favorite bands, Steel Pole Bath Tub. She requested that I re-upload them, which I have done. While I was at it, I decided to post some other material that I have of theirs. Most everything up until Unlistenable which ended the band but was recently rereleased (2010) is here. Most everything from the various members post-SPBT can be found at another older post where I shared Novex - Kleptophonia

First of is their very first self-released EP from shortly after they left Bozeman to come to San Francisco.

  2. Three tracks from Unlistenable are available on http://steelpolebathtub.com/ -- if you click on audio, click on the first image that comes up, and click again on the second image (the briefcase). "Black Eye Fixer" is a great song, and I think their cover of the Cars' "Just What I Needed" is there too.

    1. Thanks for letting me know about this. I checked it out & it was just some screeching glitch noise, but not SPBT. I re-ripped it, re-upped it, & re-posted the decryption codes.

  4. Thanks for the upload! Lots of these don't seem to be available anywhere else anymore. Is there any chance you could upload what you have in FLAC format?

    Thanks

    1. 320 mp3s is the best you get from me. I have neither the time nor the drive space (I'm not sure I even know how to rip to FLAC) to do more. It is what it is.

  5. Thank you very much from Russia. To my shame, I haven't heard about this wonderful band 'till past year. I've listened to Tumor Circus with Jello Biafra for many years, but haven't mentioned that it is SPBT. So thank you again and excuse my English

    1. This is to the two above comments. The decryption codes are all listed in a comment above. Just cut & paste where needed.
      For Tulip, the code is:

  7. Had to comment on this too. I lived in SF from 89-95 I worked as a bike messenger and then tower records in north beach. Steel pole Bathtub floored me many times. The 1,2 punch of seeing the them with NOMEANSNO at the Kennel Club was awesome. I'm pretty sure I saw them almost every time they played in SF which was alot, because they always opened or played with the best band..like The Mevlins was a good show to with SPB...anyway I live in Occidental now and saw a killer band last night Earstu reminded me of the good music days if SF. Well I'll be downloading this shit now. thanks

  8. Thank you my good man. Big SPBT fan and I've owned all these releases in some form of cd/vinyl, but not all made their way on to my computer. So I really appreciate you filling in the gaps. For Auf Wiedersehen/Surrender single link I get a "temporary error, retrying" message from mega unlimited. If you could possibly spare the time could you look at that. Thanks again, and cheers!

  11. Thank you. So happy to come across your blog while searching for SPBT on a trip down memory lane. Very impressed that the links are alive after several years.

    1. Thanks. I think this has been around long enough that it should be fair game. I'm sure Steelpole aren't gettin' a cut.
