The Sum of 33 & 66

Following the last post with more Jer Reid music, this one with him at the Control Board & guitar on "Gamelan".

Ninetynine is an indie band based in Melbourne, Australia.

They have performed extensively on many self-funded tours, playing in Japan, the UK, Europe, & North America. Their tours have usually been assisted by contacts in local live music scenes.  This is how Jer Reid & the Aussie crew teamed up.

The band was founded by Laura Macfarlane, drummer for Sleater-Kinney (on their first two full length releases).

She formed Ninetynine in 1996 as a solo project. The first album, 99, was released that same year with her playing all the instruments. In order to promote the record on tour she assembled a band with Cameron Potts & Rhonda Simmonds. The three were all multi-instrumentalists: MacFarlane sings,  plays guitar, keyboards, viola, xylophone, as well as drums & sings;  Potts plays keyboards & drums as well as sings; & Simmonds plays guitar, bass, keyboard, glockenspiel, as well as drums & sings. They frequently swap instruments between songs or even in the middle of songs. They also are known for incorporating Casiotone keyboards & Vibraphones in their music

Other musicians associated withthe band are Iain McIntyre (who played with Laura in several earlier bands), Amy Clarke (formerly of The Vivian Girls), & Meg Butler.
