Power Supply Parts I - IX
Recorded & composed live at Kings Street Garage (back of Townsend), San Francisco on March 27th, 1994 from 1.30 am to 2.20 am.
Pete sez:
"The music of this CD is "dedicated" to the missing 220V power supply, the broken EMS synthi which I dropped during the setting-up of my equipment, the SE-1 which instantly created its own sounds during the live recording and the Studio 440 with 2 faulty pads and a disk drive which had to be convinced to cooperate."
Merry X-ambias,

Again, many thanks. I must admit that it made me skeptical when you mentioned a "quantity-over-quality approach," but so far I've enjoyed the Namlooks a lot. Keep them coming!
ReplyDeleteI said in the first sentence of the First Day I would be sharing “a set of controversial improvised compositions”. Further on in that opening paragraph I said he is arguably the best/worst of the new wave of Ambient house artists.
ReplyDeleteThere is polar opposite opinions about Namlook’s output. Some love it while others despise it. I happen to think that however hyper-active Pete was, he was a very creative artist. Glad you tried these out & gave them a chance. The fact that they are all basically improvised live sheds some certain light on his genius.
I have more to come & by the conclusion, I think most all will be happy. Thanks, brother for the incouragement.
Thank you very much for the Pete Namlook posts. I have quite a few of his original CD's, so nice to find some more.
ReplyDeleteYou are most welcome. The Hoppy Holly Daze are a time of special gifting, so I'm glad to share some Pete that you may not yet know. Thanks for the kind words.
