On any post, if the link is no longer good, leave a comment if you want the music re-uploaded. As long as I still have the file, or the record, cd, or cassette to re-rip, I will gladly accommodate in a timely manner all such requests.

Marquee Moon in June

No introduction necessary. You’ve all seen this on Television. A classic.

I will say that the cover photo was taken by Robert Mapplethorpe.

Television - Marquee Moon, Elektra 7E1098, 1977.

  2. "Marquee Moon" is a litmus test for me. If you don't like it, we're not going to get along. You gotta at least acknowledge that it's a f--king genius record, even if you don't want to listen to it regularly.

    1. I agree. Even though its not one of my most played, it is one of my most loved. As Richie sez below, near perfection.

  3. An unbridled, 5-alarm, barn-burning classic. Not a duff track on it. I'd say perfect, if only perfection were attainable.

  4. This is a classic. It's been a slow burn for me with Television. When I was younger I never really understand why they were part of NYC "Punk". They're still growing on me.

It's interesting you mention the photo by Robert Mapplethorpe. I've been reading "Just Kids" by Patti Smith about her relationship with him and it's been a good read so far. I'll throw this in here if you don't mind. You probably already have this.

Television with Patti Smith from 1975

Since that's early Television, how about a little farther back.

    1. Once again, thank you so much for your generosity in the shares you always come up with.

I too recently read Just Kids & really enjoyed it. I'm a Patti fan & really dig the whole 70s NYC scene.

Don't know if you have or not but I shared Tom Verlain/TV The Twilight Zone EP here:

  5. Je me souviens encore du jour ou j'ai acheté deux vinyles incroyables en 1977, Marquee Moon et The Ramones ... La naissance d'un nouveau style musical !

    1. Cela ressemble à une journée musicale absolument formidable : *Marquee Moon* et les Ramones le même jour. Comme les horizons des possibles s'ouvrent en de telles occasions !
