On any post, if the link is no longer good, leave a comment if you want the music re-uploaded. As long as I still have the file, or the record, cd, or cassette to re-rip, I will gladly accommodate in a timely manner all such requests.

Tea Slicks on the Cup

Slick Sixty is a trio of ex-pizza delivery men made up of Nathan Church, M.J. (Marcus Salisbury), & Richie Hopson who signed to Bristol's venerated downbeat label Cup of Tea Records. Slick Sixty infuse bass-driven melodies with big beats, tasty samples, scratch wizardy, & live horns to create their own unique take on Trip-hop.

Robert Christgau sez:
"Lounge r&b for the age of techno constructivism & Moog retro."

Never even heard OF this group before, but I'm digging it a lot! Probably helps that I play a horn myself and love '60s soul stuff, but they've really got their own sound. Thanks!

    1. I as well love the horn work addition,. As you say, they have a sound all their own which also adds to the goodness. Thanks, my friend. Good to hear from you again..

  3. Nicely Nate. Bristol has punched above its weight over the years - there's been a lot of influential sounds out of that city - so this ought to be good.

    1. Thanks Richie.
Had a question for you. What did you think of The Collapse of Everything release?

    2. Funny you should mention it mate, as i've just been listening to it today. Stunningly good (bless my Sennheisers), so much so that i'm going to splash out on the vinyl version before the week's out. Standout track so far? 'Battles With Honour & Humanity'. In some ways it reminds me of Depth Charge's releases: it has a kind of cinematic quality to it, as though it had taken samples from spaghetti western & kung fu films.
Apropos of nothing, I've been going back through recent comments: there has been a lot of very intriguing links added by other posters. (Your comment about picturing me in plaid made me chuckle.) I can see i'm going to be a busy little downloader over the next few days! I've got one hell of a backlog of fascinating goodies to catch up on.

    3. I've been listening to it daily since I picked it up. In my opinion it is fantastic. Of course I'm a fan of all things Sherwood, but this is quite different from the ON-U Sound. It is not Dub as usual, but, as you say, it has a terrific cinematic quality. I believe the creativity of all the tracks is off the charts. Just saw your comment on Exy & wanted your take on the whole affair. Thanks

As for the comments, there is nearly as much good music in the comments as what I share. I should compile a list of all that are still active, but I'm such a lazy sot.
