On any post, if the link is no longer good, leave a comment if you want the music re-uploaded. As long as I still have the file, or the record, cd, or cassette to re-rip, I will gladly accommodate in a timely manner all such requests.

The Real Loon in June

See what you think of this doozy, Richard.

Now these are the real Loons. Their voices are rhythmic, the lake noises are atmospheric & it magically lines up with any beats between 100-130bpm...

Loon - Voices of the... cassette, National Audubon Society NAS1001, 1980.

  3. One of the great sources for sampling. Known about it, forgotten and glad you post it.

  5. Very quiet lol (don't disturb the aquatic wildlife). From the Buttholes to Europop, then Loons to Bassoons. Thanks for distracting me from the football.

    1. Thank you, MarkyD. From the Buttholes to Europop, then Loons to Bassoons...that seems suck an appropriate description of this dump. But football season isn't until fall...oh, wait, you mean soccer, yeah.

  6. Thank you for this! I grew up by a lake that always has a pair of loons living on it. One of the most beautiful and haunting bird calls. Sometimes they go on all night. I have a few loon call field recording albums, but not this National Audubon Society one from 1980, looking forward to listening to it. Hope side 2 is without narration! Loon call also reminds me of that loon sampling by 808 State for Pacific 202, lovely. :0)

    1. Growing up by a loon lake must have been wonderful. Side two is primarily loon tunes. 808 State song a great example of loony tune, thanks for the reminder, I don't know if you read the cassette cover write up but I got a laugh out of that. Thanks, :0).

  7. Possible suggestion for Joon: the classic Canadian New Wave band The Spoons. They are very melodic, have a terrific bassist in Sandy Horne, and are still around! Best known for their Nova Heart single, it's their Talk Back album (produced by Nile Rogers) and Romantic Traffic ep that are my faves.

  8. I'll put them on the back burner & give 'em a listen. Too bad the have the final "s". That would be Spoons in Junes. Thanks for the comment & suggestion, though.
