On any post, if the link is no longer good, leave a comment if you want the music re-uploaded. As long as I still have the file, or the record, cd, or cassette to re-rip, I will gladly accommodate in a timely manner all such requests.

Something Wicked This Way Comes

TransGlobal Underground is a UK based collective fusing as many different kinds of world music as its members can get their hands on. The project grew out of a mutual love for dance, avant-garde, Arabic, & world music. It draws on each member's listening tastes or cultural backgrounds. I have shared Natacha Atlas & Neil Sparkes here before, both members of TransGlobal. This is the first share of TGU here.

Transglobal Underground first appeared on the single "Temple Head" for Nation records. The label was created specifically to fuse western dance music with Arabic music, Asian music, & African music. At various times  Nation was a home to Asian Dub Foundation, Talvin Singh, Loop Guru, Nitan Sawhney, Jah Wobble's Invaders of the Heart, & Fun-da-Mental.

  4. Thanks Nathan!!! I saw them after a big Radio K hit that I can't remember now but saw them in huge church in downtown Minneapolis and was a show on the most high! Thanks again.

Nice one, NØ. TGU nearly slipped below my radar back in the day, though i did listen to a few of their albums. Time to re-appraise them, methinks.

  6. Thanks to all for you comments on TGU. Shared Natacha Atlas during the Fems of Feb back in 2022 & Neil Sparkes in Dec. 2024, but no Underground. Sorry for slighting such a great outfit. Will shared more later. Promise.

  8. Splendid band. Had their roots in a Pop Group-esque Bristol collective The Transmitters. Used to hammer "Temple Head" off their debut as a DJ in the early 90s. More please (when you feel like it).
