  2. This is the Shamen I was hoping you'd post. The William Orbit mixes, the full length one being a real treat, and one of Jack Dangers' make this worthwhile. "In The Bag" is a nice chill electronica/IDM track akin to early B-12. There are other Hyperreal singles that IMO are a great supplement to this one, including the mixes "Selector" and "Dirty Dubbing" both by Jack Dangers.

The Utah Saints are almost palatable on this one for me. The Lightning/Thunderbolt edits are mellow enough that I thought this was a totally different group. The Josh Wink remix is very of the era, though still enjoyable.

Dreadzone, hard no. The original is laughable, and then dubstep remixes didn't last 10 seconds on my listening.

Not really feeling the ACR this time. The Chris Massey mix is alright, though it feels out of place with the rest of the single.

A rare occurrence for me, The Shamen get my vote this round.

  3. Running out of time today, so I'll keep it short...

ACR good, Shamen surprisingly good, Dreadzone - what the...? Utah Saints - no.

The Shamen Hyperreal came as a bit of a surprise. It's a track I've heard before (I can't believe there's anyone not heard it). A classic... such a good track.

If ACR wasn't sooo good, The shamen would've got the win, but the ACR *is* sooo good.

ACR for the win with a cracking set of tracks.

    1. Wow, can't believe you almost deserted your team for The Shamen. Guess that goes to show they hit it plenty hard. Thanks for the usual great daily summary. I'pdate the tally.

  4. Barry Adamson pops up again! At the beginning of the Singles World Cup, he was on Team Dreadzone. And now he's switched sides to ACR!

"Dirty Boy" doesn't do it for me, despite Barry's contribution. Lyrics are odd. Interesting cover of "Houses In Motion".

"Lost Vagueness" just takes too long to get to where it's going -- and when it does, it seems like there's no "there" there. The Central Club mix is interesting.

If I had the skills to remix "Gangster", I would definitely emphasize Leo Williams' bassline. The "She Is Danger" remix has some deep and dubby bass, but it's not Leo.

Shamen pull into a solid second place with "Hyperreal"! But they missed an opportunity to have Coil or ELpH do a "Sidereal" remix of "Hyperreal"...

    1. Barry just follows the gigs, doing his best, dreaming of magazines & solos. "Too long to get where it's going" is kinda the point of lost vagueness. Hypereal (Sidereal) might just be (tooreal). Thanks brother jon.
