On any post, if the link is no longer good, leave a comment if you want the music re-uploaded. As long as I still have the file, or the record, cd, or cassette to re-rip, I will gladly accommodate in a timely manner all such requests.

Totally Waq

WaqWaq Kingdom is a Japanese tribal bass duo, consisting of singer/songwriter Kiki Hitomi (also in King Midas Sound) & Shigeru Ishihara (also bassist for Seefeel). Both are originally from Japan, but  met while they lived in the U.K. for over a decade. They are now based in Leipzig / Berlin.

Their genre-bending sound is like a psychedelic stew melding Japanese traditional style Minyo with Jamaican dancehall & spicing it all with Dub, techno, tribal polyrhythms, & Super Nintendo soundtracks. The lyrics & visuals draw deeply upon ancient Shinto mythology & Japanese "Matsuri" festivals. WaqWaq Kingdom's hypnotic shamanic live performances are an intense time warp experience that connect their animistic roots with the latest in urban night life.

  3. Thanks NØ for this turn toward the weird! I'm a big fan of shamanic animistic hypnotic Japanese music. I saw The Wind Travelling Band when they toured with Carlos Nakai back in '93 or so and it was indeed spellbinding and hypnotic.
