On any post, if the link is no longer good, leave a comment if you want the music re-uploaded. As long as I still have the file, or the record, cd, or cassette to re-rip, I will gladly accommodate in a timely manner all such requests.

Exploits

Something to listen to while you read...Little Dragon - Never Never (2009)

Right now I'm reading Alfred Jarry. Most noted for the avant-garde black comedy Ubu plays (Ubu Roi, Ubu Enchaine, & Ubu Cocu), however, Exploits & Opinions of Dr. Faustroll, Pataphysician is a much more sublime endeavor. 'Pataphysics revolves about the truth of contradictions & exceptions. When writing Faustroll, Jarry suggested that he was writing over everyone's head, including his own & would have to experience death in order to catch up with himself.

In Dr. Faustroll, the good Doctor is hounded for back rent of 372,000 francs 27 centimes for the past 11 quarters by Rene-Isidore Panmuphle, bailiff attached to the Civil Court of First Instance of the Department of Seine in session at Paris, who inventories & then seizes Faustroll's library of the twenty-seven most excellent volumes, as follows:

1. Baudelaire, a volume of E.A. Poe translations;
2. Bergerac, Works, Volume II, containing The History of the States & Empires of the Sun, & The History of Birds;
3. The Gospel According to St. Luke, in Greek;
4. Bloy, The Ungrateful Beggar;
5. Coleridge, The Rime of the Ancient Mariner;
6. Darien, The Thief;
7. Desbordes-Valmore, The Oath of the Little Men;
8. Elskamp, Illuminated Designs;
9. An odd volume of The Plays of Florian;
10. An odd volume of The Thousand & One Nights, in the Galland translation;
11. Grabbe, Scherz, Satire, Ironie & tiefere Bedeutung comedy in three acts;
12. Kahn, The Tale of Gold & of Silence;
13. Lautreamont, The Lays of Maldoror;
14. Maeterlinck, Aglavaine & Selysette;
15. Mallarme, Verse & Prose;
16. Mendes, Gog;
17 The Odyssey, Teubner's edition;
18. Peladan, Babylon;
19. Rabelias
20. Jean de Chilra, The Sexual Hour;
21. Henri de Regnier, The Jasper Cane;
22. Rimbaud, The Illuminations;
23. Schwob, The Children's Crusade;
24. Ubu Roi;
25. Verlaine, Wisdom;
26. Verhaeren, The Hallucinated Landscapes;
27. Verne, Voyage to the Center of the Earth.

Faustroll manages to take Panmuphle prisoner & escapes in a skiff that travels on both water & land, with the bailiff tamed by drink & chained to his seat, along with the "twenty-seven equivalent books" & a hydrochephalous baboon, Bosse-de-Nage (bottom-face) who speaks only the two syllables 'Ha ha!'.

from "Concerning the Forest of Love" (chapter 14):

"Like a tree frog out of water, the skiff edged forward, drawn by its suction disks along a smooth descending road.

In this district of Paris no omnibus had ever passed, nor railway, nor tramway, nor bicycle, nor probably any openwork boat with a copper skin, moving upon three rollers...Here, instead of street lamps we could see ancient monuments of carved stone, green statues crouching down in robes folded in the shape of hearts; heterosexual ring-dancers blowing into unmentionable flageolets; finally, a seaweed-green calvary in which the eyes of the women were like nuts cloven horizontally by the suture line of their shells.

'Ha ha!' said Bosse-de-Nage, without further commentary.

Thus I remained in charge of the skiff with the baboon cabin boy, who passed the time by jumping on my shoulders & pissing down my back; but I beat him back with blows from a bundle of writs & observed with curiosity...the demeanor of the gaily dressed...

They were seated beneath a great archway, behind which was a second, & behind these there blazed the greenness & fatness of a historiated field of cabbages. Between the arches were tables & pitchers & benches set out in a barn & on a threshing floor, crowded with people dressed in sapphire-blue velvet, with diamond shaped faces & down-colored hair, the furry surface of the earth & of the people's necks being both like cows' hair. Men were wrestling in a blue & yellow meadow, disturbing sand-gray toads whose frightened croaks reached me in the boat; couples danced gavottes; & the bagpipes, from on top of the freshly drained barrels, droned out the flight of ribbons of white tinsel & violet silk.

Each of the two thousand dancers in the barn offered to Faustroll a girdlecake, hard cube-shaped milk, & different liqueurs in glasses as thick as a Bishop's amethyst is wide & holding less than a thimbleful. The doctor drank from them all. Each person threw a pebble into the sea, stinging the blisters on my hands, novice oarsman that I was, as I held them up to protect myself...stinging the multicolored cheeks of Bosse-de-Nage.

'Ha ha!' he growled, to express his fury...

The doctor returned to the sound of bells, with two big maps of the country...one representing realistically, worked in tapestry, the forest surrounding the triangular space: the rose-red foliage rising above the blue mass of the grass, & the groups of women, the wave of each group with its crest of white bonnets breaking gently against the ground, in an eccentric circle of dawn shadow.

& on it was written: The Forest of Love.

On the second map were enumerated all the products of this happy land, men at the market with their plump yellow pigs, themselves plump & blue, stuffed into their clothes like sausages. They were all as blown up as the cheeks of a bagpiper, as full of wind as a bagpipe or a stomach.

We rubbed the adipose cheeks of the hydrocephalous baboon against the slide rails of the felt seat; & when I had taken up the oars once more, & Faustroll had taken the tiller's silken guide ropes, I crouched & stretched out once again in the alternating movement of the oarsman, over the conjoined waves of the dry land."

After much travel through strange lands like that above, Faustroll starts a holocaust & Bosse-de-Nage dies, giving rise to an in-depth analysis of his cryptic "Ha ha!" After this, Faustroll sets Henri Rousseau in charge of a 'painting machine' to embellish the works of art in the Luxembourg Museum. The painting machine, named Clinamen, spazzes in an orgy of creative violence & produces thirteen paintings.

Adrift in a sea of this artifice, Faustroll must avoid collision with the creations & maneuvers the skiff into an 'aqueduct six hundred meters wide' & 'along with the canal barges were vomited into the river' where at the age of sixty-three, he makes the 'gesture of dying'. His body unrolls like a tight-wound scroll, revealing the future & a treatise on 'pataphysics.

" 'Ha ha!', he says succinctly; & he did not lose himself in further considerations."

The Nothing Changes

Just got finished re-reading Norman Spinrad's epic Bug Jack Barron. The godfather of the cyberpunk movement is my estimation. If you haven't..., you should have. In the immortal (literally) words of 'The Black Shade':
(last penultimate paragraph before the epilogue)
"You, out there, you suckers, you!" he shouts. "Look at the thing you made! We all made..., we always make...,because there'll always be men who know the Big Secret: we can all be bought. Who wants to die? Who wants to live in a rat-trap? Who wants to eat garbage? They know it, & they suck on it---politicians! Power-junkies, giving you just enough to keep you bought with Welfare & Medicare & Niggercare & nice-sounding Lies; crumbs from the table, is all! Just enough & not a crumb more. Hold your noses & take a good look around you for a change---we've got a thousand...calling themselves Governors, Congressmen, Senators, Presidents. What are you gonna do about it? Sit on your fat asses like you always have? Or maybe go out & get yours... Well, suckers, had enough? Or are you gonna let it go on & on & on till you die? Just remember, though, when you die now, you die alone." The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble - The Nothing Changes Enjoy, NØ

UPDATE: This post was re-uploaded 08/17/2013. Enjoy, NØ.

Culled from previously released singles going back as far as 1954, but no longer trying to tame her voice as they had on her self-titled first release, Capitol Records this time let Wanda rip. That's not to say that there aren't any mellow moments, but mostly Wanda just, as the title states, rocks. By request from a friend...

We're Late for Class

Another Collection (2009) We're Late For Class We're Late For Class is an improvisational psychedelic college collective who've been posting free albums on line for over 2 years. Another Collection is their 40th. 2-CDs, 142 minutes, of uncharted improvisation & drug fueled excess, including a seance with Jim Morrison, a musical romp with O.J. Simpson, a homage to producer Jimmy Miller, the theme song for a low budget cable comedy sketch show, one too many accidental nods to Hawkwind & stoned tributes to Ali, Guess Who guitarist Kurt Winter, Pink Floyd & whatever was on the box that given weekend. It's all culled from their previous 19 releases (#21-#39). Last year's #20 A Collection features highlights from #1-#19. WLFC is also prone to 20, 30 & 40 minute space jams, but didn't have the space to include any this time. The best part? It's all free for the taking. You can find We're Late For Class at any local hash bar or at their blog We're Late For Class. Herd Mentality by We're Late For Class

Sorry if I didn't get to it in a timely manner, as I was having computer meltdown that I just recently fixed. Thanks to everyone who takes the time to let me know about these problems. I spend a good bit of time posting musick here & it is great when visitors take the time to let me know about problems.

I searched everywhere for the mp3 rip of the Nasal Sex album but no luck...for me that is. For you, good luck. Some time after the original post I started using SoundForge instead of Audacity & I got a newer USB turntable, so the sound should be improved. Enjoy.

Butch

UPDATE: This post was re-uploaded 09/14/2013. Enjoy, NØ.

My favorite production by the great character actress Carla Bozulich is Butch, where she reprises her pseudo country-punk heroine Geraldine Fibbers. This outing, however, finds her paired with new leading man Nels Cline, known for his roles in The Crew of the Flying Saucer & The Black Gang, both co-starring Mike "Minuteman" Watt. Recently Nels has been appearing in the popular series, Wilco. Geraldine has truly hit her stride in Butch. From the very opening scene, "California Tuffy", we are hooked. Then "Toybox" kicks it up & it's a sweet ride to the finish. Enjoy this classic.

Ethyl Meatplow

UPDATE: This post was re-uploaded 08/12/2013. Enjoy, NØ

I always loved Fred & Ethyl Meatplow, those wacky neighbors on the I Luv Loopy show. I always had the hots for Ethyl.

Ethyl was played by the great character actress Carla Bozulich. She is also know for her portrayals of Geraldine Fibbers, the pseudo-country wench; Scarnella the evil witch; & most recently the angelic Evangelista.

My favorite episode of the I Luv Loopy show featured Ethyl as a pseudo-industrial alternative dance-rock singer in a band with Biff Barefoot & Wee Wee...an episode entitled Happy Days Sweetheart. John 'Wee Wee' Napier on guitar, Carla 'Ethyl' Bozulich singing, & Harold 'Biff' Barefoot Sanders III on drums, with the help of Eeda Kitto & Sayuri Kawada on violins, Martin Tillmen on viola, Tree on cello, David Brown on alto saxophone, Albert Wing on tenor saxophone, & additional vocal support from Barry Adamson & Daniel Keenan. Here it is...

Computer Malfunction

Well, I have returned from the Land of the Dead...dead computer, that is. My old piece of shit had been on its last leg for a long while. Finally it was coughing up lung & inhaling its final breath. I had been putting off the evitable but it finally became inevitable. Yet every cloud, as they say, has a silver lining. I had a replacement that I bought used out of the Pennysaver for twenty-five clams.

It was a Pentium 4, 2.8GHz with 480MB RAM & 100GB hard drive.

My old beater was a P-3 with 1.33GHz, 256 Ram, but it had two 80GB hard drives Local C: & Local D: cuz the last time it broke, my motherboard fried & so I installed a new board & 80 drive, but left the other 80 in there.

I also have a 200GB Maxtor external hard drive that was getting kinda crowded with...well, stuff...you know.

Now I'm up & running on the new system, I wiped everything from the old one & re-installed bare-bones XP. Now all the 'stuff' is being stored on my old comp., now re-named Library.

My external has 151 GB free space once more. This new one is smokin' & its got 75.7 GB free. I've got a few more bugs to exterminate, but I should be good to go, so I'm hoping to be posting by tomorrow again.

Just thought I'd post this up to say 'Wassup!'

Broke out of the Haze

UPDATE: This post has been re-uploaded 08/09/2013. Enjoy, NØ

Woke up this morning with a hankering for some Haze. Flipped on Games, Dames, & Guitar Thangs from 1977. I was groovin' ta da FUNK!!! before I even realized I was over my affliction. My Pink Dots mania had subsided to a manageable level. Eddie Hazel, maestro of "Maggot Brain", a sad-life artiste of rock excess, but a six-string GAWD nonetheless. Original lead guitarist for George Clinton's Funkadelic. Left the band in 1974 amid a flurry of drug use. After splitting, The Haze played for The Temptations, contributing to "Standin' On (Shakey Ground)". Did some time in prison on a drug-related charge. Reunited with Clinton & P-Funk Mob to create this, his only album.

(There are three posthumous releases:1994s Rest in P album that was released by P-Vine Records in Japan, comprised of previously unreleased tracks recorded by Eddie Hazel around 1975 & 1976, which features musical support from various members of the P-Funk stable [Despite being heavily sought after by collectors, Rest In P has never been released outside of Japan.]; four tracks on the Jams from the Heart EP, included as bonus tracks on Rhino Records' 2004 limited-edition reissue of Game, Dames and Guitar Thangs; & 2006s At Home (with Family) which is an uneven collection of home studio recordings & living-room jams.)

Released in 1977, Games, Dames & Guitar Thangs is a full-tilt, jam-filled showcase for Hazel's far-out virtuosity. He cuts loose on fiery extended versions of The Mamas & The Papas' "California Dreamin'" as well as The Beatles' "I Want You (She's So Heavy)." Elsewhere he taps the Parliament/Funkadelic tradition with "Frantic Moment," "So Goes The Story," & "Physical Love", all co-written by Clinton & Bootsy Collins. The P-Funk Brides Of Funkenstein handle the majority of vocal duties.

Hazel's hard living eventually caught up with him. The Haze died in 1992 of liver & kidney failure.

Bucket O' Love

Sure, I'm a trash picker...
digging thru the detritus of modern living is my secondary education...
before recycling was PC or dumpster diving was de rigueur sport,
I sifted thru manorwomankind's waste like an archaeologist in search of the missing link...
only I was searching for instant gratification...
a satchel of cash, a briefcase of drugs, a diamond ring,
a rat's asshole I could sell as a diamond ring...
anything...
but what I found the other night was beyond even my most twisted desire.

I was driving down Cap. City Freeway the other night, coming from the lamest Beltane celebration I'd ever had the displeasure of attending.
Not only wouldn't the Wicci (Wiccas??? Wicc ass??? whatever) present let us make a human sacrifice (we said we'd go find our own virgin 'cuz we knew they were all fucked...but NOOOOO!!!), but they wouldn't even let us make a pentangle on the coffee table with neither salt, cornmeal, nor chicken entrails. We had brought along the Satanic throws so we just spread them out nonetheless & onward.

After we'd smoked the wormwood / lizard-tail concoction
& consumed all the blood, the 'Cum-Bye-Yah' drove me out in search of ablution.
I was driving down Cap. City Freeway in the darkest wee hours when something caught my eye. It was a 5 gal. bucket setting upright beside the roadway.
It drew me like a magnet to its Holy Grail.

I pulled over & walked back to check it out.
Before I got all the way next to the bucket, I could hear her voice.
She kept repeating, "You won't be sorry. Just help me. You won't be sorry."
I didn't know where the voice was coming from at first,
but as I got closer & closer to my intended prize,
I realized the voice was coming from inside the bucket.
Little did I know that the ultimate prize of my life-long trash picking days lay before me.

Not cash nor drugs nor diamonds nor assholes, but my own true Bucket o' Love.

I don't know how she got in that bucket
& I don't really know how she came to be setting by that roadside,
but I do know that she's fine where she is in that bucket
& all that she needs is loving.

She's got all her openings, so the imagination is the limit as to what we can do.
She never seems to tire & she never gets enough.
I know she'll never leave me, even if I treat her rough.
She's the woman of every man's dream.
She ready day or night
& she always treats me right.
She likes lots of fluids,
they seem to keep her running smooth
& she's got the silkiest mouth I've ever felt,
she's got the tightest groove.
She might give me lots of lip,
but she carries a heavy load.
She never bitches 'bout her life
'cuz she could be setting by the road.

I don't want you to get the wrong idea...
I always treat her nice.
I keep her warm...
I keep her dry...
I give her pleasure once or twice
a day...
I love her in my own small way...
I take her with me when I stay away
from the maddening crowd at dawn.
I never ridicule...
I never force her to go to school...
I always wipe her drool
on my pant-leg when I'm thru,
fool.

I know you'll all condemn me
but I know you'd take my place
for just one day of unconditional commitment from my beautiful bucket o' love.
All you members of the jury...
& you, your honor, you must believe me...
she's no slave to sex or pawn of lust...
she's the only woman that ever loved me...
I'm the only one she trusts.
Just because her lot in life is loving a loser like me
doesn't make the fact that she lives her life in a bucket
any less than free.
She could be dead or in a specimen jar up on a scientist's shelf,
instead she's loving me in every way & gratifying herself.
Her family couldn't pleasure her because of incestuous guilt,
but every time I slam my rod buried to the hilt
in that bucket o' circumstance,
in that bucket o' quivering need,
I know I've made my bucket o' love smile...
I know I've done the selfless deed.

So if you're ever driving home late after a pissy Satanic night,
remember, the bucket you see by the side of the road
just might
serve you right.
I know that the shrinks have examined my skull
& couldn't find a clue
But I know you'll surely understand
if this ever happens to you.
