Jah Warrior 

 

 

Jah Warrior is a UK Roots reggae/Dub production team, record label, Sound System, & musical group created by Steve Mosco, who has adopted that name. Jah Warrior is another practitioner of the new wave of U.K. Dub as head of the self-titled Jah Warrior Records since 1995.

Steve began following Sound System culture in the late 70s in his hometown of Manchester. He became a follower of all things Jah Shaka & moved to London in 1981. He got a job as selector for Humble Lion Sound System & a pirate radio gig on LWR. In 1989 he released his first record under the Zulu Warriors moniker. The album contains the track ''Dub in the Year 2000''. Jah was definitely on board for the new Sound.

Jah Warrior's trademark heavyweight sound is ever present throughout the next release. As per the new UK Dub Sound, Jah keeps one eye on the future utilising modern Sounds while remaining grounded in the foundations of Roots reggae. This is Dubwise Roots, made in London but inspired by the Dub masters from Kingston, Jamaica like King Tubby & Scientist. Mixed at Conscious Sounds by Dougie Conscious. Musicians include Steve Mosco on bass & keyboards, Hughie Izachaar on guitar & melodica, Jonah Dan on percussion along with a full 3 piece horn section from Crispy Horns
