I onced belonged to a short-lived (not my chosing) private blog that shared all things reggae & related. I shared some Dubsalon there but enjoyed it personally so much that I gathered up a goodly amount, which then just ended up in Overflow.
Dubsalon is an outernational music maker & sound designer from La Fortuna, Argentina who strives to move outward beyond national borders, envisioning a world connected through shared human experience, kinda like NSS is an outernational blog trying to share music beyond geographic or genre limitations. He is a musickal space traveler specializing in psychedelic Dub.
I first listened to Ancient Tongues when I was sharing it on Rebel Roots. I then expanded my Dubsalon library as I enjoyed more & more...
Here's Dubsalon's very first LP from 2011...

Twisted Dub
Sound Clash

If you aren't familiar or would like a suggestion for a jumping in point, might I suggest Morphic Resonance. By the time you finish this short four-track EP, I believe you will be thoroughly enthralled.

Where U Going
On this, his second full-length release, Dubsalon has perfected his psychDub downtempo style. As he sez:
"Space travellers, enjoy the trip."
Ancient Tongues is the first Dubsalon I discovered & I soon shared it on Rebel Roots. I then expanded my Dubsalon library as I enjoyed more & more, but I go back to this one most often...
Soft Cell
Hexagram
Collective Memories
Altered Reality
Beyond the Seen
Ancient Tounges
Timeless (Squazoid remix)
Skunked
Psychilled
Come & Ride (Trancient Dreams remix)
For this one, Dubsalon sez:
"For those in search of the truth..."

Thanks NØ! I'll enjoy these as I work my way through grading. Another voyage through undiscovered lands!
ReplyDeleteI was just re-listening to these last night & today. When I listen to Ancient Tongues again I suddenly realized that Dubsalon sound similar in sound & mood with Pitch Black, who are one of my favorite projects. No wonder I enjoy this stuff so much & never realized the sonic bond. Should be lovely "Music for Grading Papers. Thanks brother.
DeleteHello NØ! I'm making my way through Dubsalon this morning. They're just kinda flowing from one album to another. Now I'm going to have to go find what you've posted from Pitch Black. *update after I searched for your Pitch Black releases. I was unprepared for your megapost! An embarrassment of riches! **update I'm now through the first four Dubsalon, and I've started Riverside Tales, which has a distinct Gaudi remixes Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan vibe to it. Fantastic stuff NØ!
DeleteGlad you're liking these & yes, Pitch Black is a deep dive. Thanks again, my friend. Punxy Phil sez "6 more weeks of winter".
DeleteNØ I ll note this one too...he must be a follower of Jah Shaka, The Disciples, The Rootsman, ......and many more of the 90 s phenomenal era.
ReplyDeleteDubsalon approach of dub is more of the Planet Dog stuff....
ReplyDeleteOh thank you so much NØ ! You have NØ idea how much these sounds make my ears and soul much better! All the good to you!
ReplyDeletePeace & comfort to You.
