Yellow Balloon was a psychedelic sunshine pop band formed in Los Angeles, CA in 1967 by producer/songwriter Gary Zekley. When Gary Zekely wasn't impressed with Jan & Dean's version of his song, '"Yellow Balloon'", he decided to record it himself. As it turned out, Zekely's version hit number 25 while Jan & Dean's did''t even hit the top 100, peaking at #111.
As Yellow Balloon, the five piece released this one full-length that year (as well as a handful of singles) & then faded into the sunset, eclipse by the shining orb that was Brian Wilson & cohorts.
Note: Don Grady from My Three Sons TV show was one of the lead vocalists for Yellow Balloon, credited under his birth name Don Agrati or the alias Luke R. Yoo (second from right in sunglasses & blond wig above).
