After I'd worked out all September Dub posts, I was listening to much other, non-Dub musick. I delved deeply into such divergent musick as Sexwitch, Nasmak, Vox Populi & The PeΔrls to name but a few.
If September felt like Dub month, October always seems like Weird month to me. After all, the weather drastically changes by its end it culminates in summer's true end or Samhain.
All Hallows Eve.
Halloween.
So here's the one I want to start off October with...Strawberry Deutsche Mark.
I was listening to Whatever Happens Next... by Swell Maps the other night. It made me think about Epic Soundtrack & Nikki Sudden & particularly Jowe Head. I listened to Jowe's Strawberry Birthmarks but it didn't quite hit the (birth)mark that I was aiming to soothe.
I needed a dose of Strawberry Deutsche Mark.
''Coldfinger'' is a rave-up!
I thought rather than search for hours through my labyrinthian filing stashing system heaps, I'd just grab a copy from the interweb...you know, make it easy on myself. Well, low & behold, I couldn't find it anywhere & so I decided I knew the remedy for that. So after only having to look three places...the obvious file: # - K (no luck)...Working from Here Now 1.0 (ditto)... & finally Working from Here Now 2.0. Voila...I give you...

ReplyDeleteI think a 'midget submarine' grabbed your file and stashed it.
ReplyDeleteIt's all escape.
ReplyDeleteI love that top photo. Farewell dub September, welcome weird October!
ReplyDeleteSwell Maps were definitely...er...unique. That photo is such a statement of the time.
DeleteUp for weird.
ReplyDeleteYou're up for weird, I'm up for weird. Have to see how it works out.
DeleteNever heard of this but Swell Maps/Epic Soundtracks/Nikki Sudden are all triggers for me so I'm definitely in. For some reason I'm not familiar with Jowe Head apart from the Swell Maps so this is a welcome discovery. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteJowe was an integral part of Swell Maps along with Epic & Nikki. His solo stuff is plenty fine. Hope you dig it.
