That strange cosmic entanglement has a way of working its wonders ever so unexpectedly.
The anniversary of my birth is on the 3rd. I'm not really one to make any hoopla about it, it's just another day, nothing really changes, I'm just one day closer to the end, but it does often cause me to reflect on the past a bit & think a bit about the future.
This year as it approaches I was thinking a bit about the future of this here mess I make on the interweb, in visitors ears & minds. I was of an inclination to revisit artists & bands I had shared before, adding to their catalogues as struck my fancy.

note: If anyone has their own requests for revisitations, leave a comment somewhere this month.
Then I got a comment on an Exuma post from more than ten years ago. A Frenz of NSS, Strugglin' Singer sez:
"How do I contact the Blog Owner. I have some extra ‘Exuma’ LPs to share."
Turns out he had several additional releases, some live shows, a Best of...compilation & various mixed single tracks of Exuma songs & folks covering Exuma tunes. I was overjoyed & overwhelmed by his generosity. It also convinced me that my thoughts of revisitations was obviously meant to be.
So starting with More Cowbell share from April 13, 2014 here, these are just a few of the goodies SS shared with me to share with you.
Macfarlane Gregory Anthony Mackey aka Tony McKay aka The Obeah Man aka Ezuma, through his musical recordings, live performances, & fanciful paintings, has promoted Bahamas heritage throughout the world more than any other contemporary Bahamian recording artist.

Just what i needed - exotic materials from elsewhere, to put a shine on a grubby day. Cheers, my friend.
ReplyDeleteCheers to you as well. Stay tough.
ReplyDeleteA million thanks! These are the two Exuma albums I didn't have.
ReplyDeleteI correct myself: still missing From Africa to America to Junkanoo to Armageddon. Did Strugglin' Singer send you that one?
ReplyDeleteAnsina, here is a link to a folder of additional Exuma material. It contains: Exuma ~ From Africa To America To Junkanoo To Armageddon; plus two live shows - Exuma ~ Black Fire Soul! PBS-TV LIVE (December 13th 1972); & Exuma - Fire (Live Concert). Help yourself if you’re interested. They are in raw form, not tagged or anything, contains mp4s & mp3s. Thanks for the interest in this great artist.

Great, thanks again! When I was a teenager in a South American country, the single with Exuma, the Obeah Man & You Don't Know What's Going On opened a door for me. Many years passed until Internet gave me information about the artist and I could collect his fascinating albums.
ReplyDeleteYou're most welcome. Don’t know if you’ll happen to see this reply, but here’s the single if you don’t still have it.
