Scottish DJ, producer, remixer, radio host, writer, event promoter, music consultant, activist, & label boss from Glasgow, JD Twitch (Keith McIvor) died from terminal brain cancer on September 19th.
Beginning as 'Twitch' while running the long-standing techno/leftfield night Pure in Edinburgh in 1990, then adding the 'JD' prefix in the late 90s for the Optimo nights in Glasgow.
I've got one of his DJ mixes on cassette that I'll share right now, from the Solar Lodge, March 2021.

RIP Twitch
RIP.
ReplyDeleteThanks all for you kind rememberances, especially Richard for the more Twitch link.
ReplyDeletethank you, had not known this great mix by twitch!
ReplyDeleteThanks NØ for sharing his memory. RIP Twitch.
ReplyDeleteRIP, didn't know he was behind the Reggae Africa compilation (or at least his record label). From what I read he seemed a good man. Thanks for sharing the (sad) news, just bought two reggae/dub mix cassettes he put out (apparently one was his favorite), 'free to pay what you want' and the proceedings go to a Glasgow foodbank. So, NØ, indirectly you helped a good cause, which kinda makes you a good person too. Bless you, grtz.
ReplyDeleteYeah, all go to the Optimo Music Bandcamp, there you can get some more of those 10 Tapes from JD Twitch for free or what you wanna pay.
DeleteThe dub one is great:

Kinda makes me a good person...why, I resemble that remark. Thanks, JM.
DeleteHope everyone checks out the BC stuff & gives a little. Glasgow foodba fer sure.
DeleteThanks Ja-Mike, I'm a sucker for food banks.
DeleteNØ ,every lost is a big lost,we would love to have everybody on board of this dub train ,but let him R.I.P......
ReplyDeleteHe may not physically be with us on the Dub train, but his music will live on with us if we keep it with us always.
