On any post, if the link is no longer good, leave a comment if you want the music re-uploaded. As long as I still have the file, or the record, cd, or cassette to re-rip, I will gladly accommodate in a timely manner all such requests.

Dubtember 21 - The Forces of Dub

Last week I shared some Roy Cousins & mentioned his success as a music producer in Jamaica. The Forces of Music was the name for the musician collective backing Roy Cousins productions, mainly in the late 70s, consisting mostly of members from Revolutionaries & Roots Radics.

First up we have Liberated Dub, the Dub companion to The Royals - Israel Be Wise The complete Dub LP has been reissued in 2001 by Orange Street on CD as Disc 2 of Prince Lincoln Thompson - Humanity. The CD has several bonus track not available on this vinyl version.

Dubtember 15 - Dub Royalty

Roy Cousins was already famous as a reggae great when in 1979 cataracts diminished Roy's sight to the point that he concentrated solely on production work which he could carry out in the relative safety of the recording studio. Cousins was at work producing Prince Far I's final album in 1983, Umkhonto We Sizwe, when Far-I was fatally shot before the album was finished. This event prompted Cousins to emigrate to Liverpool, England,

He opened a record shop, Cousins Cove, where he also produced & released records on his Tamoki-Wambesi & Dove labels, both from his back-catalogue, & new recordings of visiting Jamaican artists. This collection features production by Roy on riddims originally licensed by Roots Radics to Roy back in his Jamaica days..
