On any post, if the link is no longer good, leave a comment if you want the music re-uploaded. As long as I still have the file, or the record, cd, or cassette to re-rip, I will gladly accommodate in a timely manner all such requests.

  1. I posted this up on IG right after I heard that Jimmy Cliff had passed onto the next realm: "Well, this is just shitty news. Jimmy Cliff's late 60s and early 70s records are up there for me with Otis Redding, Sam Cooke, and Marvin Gayes as far as my fav soul sounds. And even though it's as far from a deep cut as a reggae record can get, 'The Harder They Come' soundtrack is sui generis for my love of JA sounds. Rest in power, Ivanhoe."
(I probably should have included Desmond Dekker in that short list, since I picked up a Trojan collection of his greatest hits the same day I bought "THTC" and played the ever-loving shit out of both of them.)

  5. Ugh.
One of the worst things about aging (I'm 62) is losing one's childhood heroes right 'n' left.

  6. Thanks to all for your kind words for a great artist. For those "of an age" The Harder They Come (movie & soundtrack) was such an important element in our lives. Although JC was a crooner, of course I had to post up some Dub remembrance of the man & his music.
