Alpha & Omega 

 

 

Alpha & Omega are the duo of Christine Woodbridge (bass & percussion) & John Sprosen (drums, guitar, other percussion). In the early 90s they pioneered a style of Dub that is uniquely British: massively thunderous bass lines; galloping drum tracks; & a willingness to tastefully adorn their Dubs with digital flutes & various other electronic sound washes.

John Sprosen worked with the Roaring Lion Sound System in the 1980s. He brought all of his Sound System styles to play in everything that Alpha & Omega created. Their production skills are on par with Adrian Sherwood's On-U Sound & the Mad Professor's Ariwa studio. The duo has supplied numerous rhythm tracks for Jah Shaka.

It is extremely pertinent that Alpha & Omega's Sound System Dub was their first official U.S. release. As the U.S. was not directly exposed to UK Sound System culture, this set of tracks are all remixed versions of songs selected from their seven prior import-only releases. This is Alpha & Omega's Sound System Dub.
