Note: All of you familiar with my personal brand of psychosis have probably figured out by now that for next month all the shares will be prompted by the compilations I’m sharing this month. I’m going to try to select one artist from each comp to share something from their catalogue. If anyone wants to reply at any time with your requested artist share, I will try to share those as well (or just those Frenz choices, should the entire world flip upside down & there were magickally enough requests, I could skip or pair with mine). I just sez...

A collection of Non-Velvet songs by John Cale covered on a home-made compilation

Thanks Richard, as always. I think most everyone who visits this dump stops by the fine JoKoNky site, but just in case...
DeleteWhat a line-up! Got to give this a listen, many thanks.
ReplyDeleteBrian
A mighty fine selection of artists chosen for this endeavor indeed. Thanks, brother.
Deleteit asked for a decryption key--what's an old man doing wrong?
ReplyDeleteSigh--never mind. Dumb dumb dumb; stupid stupid, stoopid
ReplyDeleteNothing stoopid about the decryption key query. To the newbies here it is not necessarily obvious. Buried just below the surface to avoid the Interweb Police. Glad you found your way. Welcome aboard the ship of fools.
Deleteappreciate it--I've actually been here often--love this place--I just had a senior moment, to use a term I hate, but when the shoe fits. Thanks
DeleteSenior moments make up my day, but my shoes don't fit any more. Oh, wait...those aren't my shoes. Glad to officially make your acquaintance.
DeleteThis looks great -- thank you!
ReplyDeleteThank, Mr.Dave.
DeleteLove any VU family stuff, so Thank You Very Much for this compilation, and for turning me on to Jokonky blog as well. The first 45 I ever bought was Vicious b/w Walk On The Wild Side, in grade 4 (1984) shortly after CBC blew my preteen mind by airing the original uncensored cut of Nelvana's cyberpunk classic Rock & Rule, with Mr. Reed providing some of the songs for evey Canadian animation fan of a certain age's favourite fictional rock star, Mok. My brother and I poured over our vhs home taped recording of it for decades.) Vicious did not disappoint. By grade 10, I Was A Teenage Laurie Anderson Clone. True story!

That Cowboy Junkies cover of Sweet Jane was a deserved hit, too.
Cheers!
Thanks for the comment & tale of yore. Always a favorite item here.
DeleteDon't know if you saw the Deadbeat version of Cowboy Junkies - Trinity I posted a while back
https://nathannothinsez.blogspot.com/2024/12/thirty-years-ona-crazemas-deadbeat-with.html
Worth checking out if you enjoyed the original.
Thank you for the heads-up! Very much enjoyed the original; The Caution Horses is lovely too, if a bit less gothic. I hadn't made it that far back in exploring your blog these past few months, there's so much ear treasure to explore, but I've just skipped back & eagerly dl'ed it. From your description it's right down my alley. Many Thanks! Cheers from NS :0)
Delete"So much ear treasure". Shucks, you got me blushin' now. But seriously, thanks for saying such a kind thing. Hope you take the time to peruse my back pages. It's why I do what I do. The treasure of discovery, the power behind the musick. If you find any dead links, please let me know & I'll...I don't know...do Somethin'. I'm not all Sez, I alot Dewz.
