On any post, if the link is no longer good, leave a comment if you want the music re-uploaded. As long as I still have the file, or the record, cd, or cassette to re-rip, I will gladly accommodate in a timely manner all such requests.

VA: pt. 14 - Running Amuck

amuck \ ə-ˈmək, ə-ˈmäk \ adv : in a murderously frenzied manner. This is a word that has to do with chaos and disorder. A riot is an example of people running amuck. In a cafeteria, if people are yelling and throwing food, they are going amuck. This word applies to times when control has been lost: people are showing no self-control, and the situation is out of hand.

This Amuck is a cool punky compilation from that great Phoenix label Placebo. Born in 1979, Placebo is primarily a punk label (the main early label for Phoenix skate-punkers JFA) based in Phoenix, Arizona,

Aside from punk bands they released a handful of electronic/noise releases, notably the early parts of the 'Dry Lungs' series.

Side One is punky, Side Two is electronic/noise.

Various - Amuck, Placebo Records LA103, 1982.

  3. "What stinks!?!" I have to wonder if Phoenix had any clue about the local treasures within its borders. Prolly not. This one got filed near the other cool amazing compilation in that day; " VA - You'll Hate This Record" My introduction to GG Allin, among others. I bet you have that too. If not, I'll see what I can do. In any case, Thanks for keeping on.

    1. Placebo put out some great music from the Phoenix area. Dirty Records was another label doing great musick in the southwest: Adams Alcoholics; The Twits; The Assmen; Denver vs Phoenix comp. Loved all those crazy hot desert bands. Thanks for the comments, Rev.b

  4. That defiled baby doll on the cover brings to mind a disturbing hobby my missus has taken up this year; taking baby doll heads, cutting off the cranium, planting a cactus in the skull and placing them around the yard. Not to be out-creeped, I've recently been taken to placing one on the top shelf of the fridge so it'll be the first thing she sees in the morning. Sadly, I don't think it's worked.

    1. Love this anecdote. If the wifey's busy making them, no wonder you get no reaction. Gotta come up with your own kool idea for ye olde shock-value. Thanks again, rev.b.
