On any post, if the link is no longer good, leave a comment if you want the music re-uploaded. As long as I still have the file, or the record, cd, or cassette to re-rip, I will gladly accommodate in a timely manner all such requests.

Musick that Needed Work: T - The The

This band survived the purge of "The" from the band names because there was nowhere to hide. I doubt if I need to go into much of a history of this band. Pretty much anyone interested in music is familiar with the musical work of Matt Johnson, the founder & only constant member of The The.

This version of Soul Mining, The The's first full-length comes with a bonus 12" 45rpm limited edition...

The The - Soul Mining, Epic EPC25525, 1983.

  2. Surely one of my 100 most played of all times. When i was in my late teens and last class of school it helped me a lot. Best one can say of an album. Cheers!

  4. It famously has an accordeon and that was daring in 1983. First time I heard it I was like a child, after a first visit at the zoo, and when asked how he liked it, could only say "there were French Fries" . I love this album dearly, and I never knew there was a bonus 12'' thank you

  5. Thanks mate. I reckon it's about time i re-assessed this band's output after many years' biased rejection of them - during my student days it was de rigeur to like The The, and because i was heavily into my Groucho Marxist phase at the time ("i refuse to belong to any club that would have me as a member") i shunned their output. Yup, naive and self-destructive. Time to put things right, wouldn't you agree?

    1. When I share these Musick the Needed Work, it's not always a recommendation of approva. Just stuff that was stuck in a dead-end folder & needed rescued to its proper place. You must make of it what you think. By the way, I'm still a Groucho Marxist.

    2. You're right. Once a Groucho Marxist, always a Groucho Marxist. One grouping i'm proud to be a card-carrying member of.
