I've decided that this month I'm going to share Guilty Pleasures.
Those are groups or artists that I never shared before & actualy never admit to anyone that I even listen to, let alone hold in highest esteem. These are like The Osmonds or Jimmy Buffett or The Carpenters or Wayne Newton or Randy Newman or Kansas...you get the drift.
Not CBGBs but CDBGs...AF
Here's one I've been wanting to share for a long time but never really got around to it. One of the formative bandss of my youthful musical mind. The Bee Gees: Robin; Maurice; & Barry combined the sublime vocal harmonies, perfect lyrical content, & unequalled pop sensibilities. This is their third full-lenght release, called creatively 1st.
The Bee Gees - Bee Gees 1st, Polydor 184089, 1967.

I have quite a few early Bee Gees albums (admitted proudly, not the least bit guiltily), but not this one. Is it a US release, do you know? Some of the tracks i recognise; some not.
ReplyDeleteUS, UK, Australia, New Zealand, Germany
DeleteCanada, Italy, France, South Africa
Spain, Yugoslavia --- kinda world-wide I guess. Polydor / ATCO.
I guess the guilty verdict depends on who's judging.
Mea culpa, so it is! Another to look out on vinyl for i reckon. Cheers muchly, Nate.
DeleteCan't say that I particulatly look forward to a month of guilty pleasures. But I must admit that I've always adored New York Mining Disaster 1941... As ever, many thanks, Nate!
ReplyDeleteStay tuned. You just might be surprised.
DeleteThis is gonna be a long month, unless of course. . .
ReplyDeleteBut yes, of course...
DeleteDue to "undiagnosed mental disorders", I've been homeless a lot, left with only the clothes on my back and a battered copy of my favorite book. And each time I "recovered", among my first purchases was...
ReplyDeleteCarpenters – The Singles 1969-1973
ABBA - Gold
Chicago IX: Chicago's Greatest Hits
...so yeah, this is sure to be among my favorite NØ months!
We'll see.
DeleteOh I'm such a rube. Like all the women in my history, you got my hopes up, NØ, only to dash them mercilessly.
DeleteStill, it's a very good LP!
Always run the risk with April Fools jokes of "dash(ing) hope mercilessly". Sorry it had to be you. Since 2022 when I did the It's Been Real share as a really bad April Fools joke, I have steerd clear. This year I thought I'd go light & basically goof on my own self. I didn't mean any offense.
DeleteGreat album actually, as is much of their work back then.
ReplyDeleteThanks, FiveGuns
DeleteLook at the teeth on those fellas! They give me the hee-Bee Gee-bees.
ReplyDeleteThe Glam Shot, oh my brother.
DeleteYeah, better let them sing than bite you.
DeleteDiego
I had a good laugh expecting Abba (with fear) and finding Terror !
ReplyDeleteSorry, but no ABBA here. Just a bad April Fools joke for the throngs.
