This release followed Parallel Universe & Jacob's Optica Stairway that I've shared in the past. This is simply a most perfect album! 4Hero are magickians of break-ology & sampling, Here they weave a concept album from an unexpected palette of broken beats, soul, jazzy drum&bass.
The whole thing starts off with political poetess Ursula Rucker expounding the album's thesis, that Humanity is a hostile passenger aboard the sacred vessel Earth, witnessing our own harsh destiny & vessel Earth's destruction play out through a cosmic dance of Future jazz.

Next is the remix CD that came out about a year after Two Pages. Remix albums are not always favorites of mine, but here the reworks are often as good as the originals (especially Jazzanova "We Who are Not as Others" & Masters at Work "Starchasers").

Cheers, mate. This sounds very intriguing. My entry point into 'break-ology' and sampling came from the twin discoveries of both DJ Shadow's and Kid Koala's music years ago, and i've been a fan ever since. This reads like a cross between that nexus, and Hawkwind. Gosh!
ReplyDelete4Hero is kinda unique proposition. They are the progenitors of numerous groups in their wake, the creators of the electro-jungle-D'n'B style that has been oft copied but never done as well as 4Hero do it. Hope you like their sweet music.
DeleteThanks for this
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome. Sorry I didn't respond sooner but have been crazy busy.
