On any post, if the link is no longer good, leave a comment if you want the music re-uploaded. As long as I still have the file, or the record, cd, or cassette to re-rip, I will gladly accommodate in a timely manner all such requests.

  2. Fun use of a lecture on aliens and conspiracy, Rapoon's music does not detract from this and adds a nice musical backdrop. "Waddi Haj" is the only track I had heard before and really enjoy that one with its looping rhythm and layered vocals almost in a dub style. "Give Us Dub" is what I'd expect from a dub forward track from Rapoon, minimal, hazy and well timed stabs of instruments with subdued background ambience. The music loop on "No Really" gives off a vibe almost like the Caretaker, and "Only the Names Change" reminded me of a more processed "Disintegration Loops".
Zoviet France's first outing here, and its more harsh that most others. Kind of reminds me of early Nurse With Wound and Current 93 from this era. I for one, am glad they moved on from this particular style as what came later is just wonderful stuff, hence why they are leading in this matchup. Not much else to be said on this album, its a great document of where they came from, very era appropriate for early 80's industrial/ambient/noisy stuff.

Rapoon gets my vote as their album this time has the potential for more repeated listens.

  3. This is a comparatively easy one to decide. Of course, Garista is rather unrefined and partly not very pleasant to listen to. But it's got some great moments and it's fascinating how good music that sounds completely anti-musical and effortless can be. There is plenty to discover here.
What Do You Suppose is definitely not among my favourite Rapoon albums. I find the massive speech samples rather nerve racking. Don't know if we are supposed to take this seriously or if it serves the purpose of exposing a ridiculous conspiracy theorist. And I don't care anyway. Not my kind of thing at all.
    Clear win for ZF.

    1. Thanks you two once more for the great commentaries. I just love it when you agree on the highlights of opposing entries & just as much when you disagree. Both give a clear view of the releases & give us less knowledgeable a few things to consider when making our choices. Kepp up the great dialogue. I had hoped some folks would make this work but never dreamed you two would do such a superior job of it.

      I've updated the tally.

I really enjoy how Rapoon used the "What Do You Suppose? (The Alien Question)" samples & sound loops to create a quite mesmerizing experience. My vote is for Rapoon this time. I don't think I like the harsh style of ZF on this one.
