On any post, if the link is no longer good, leave a comment if you want the music re-uploaded. As long as I still have the file, or the record, cd, or cassette to re-rip, I will gladly accommodate in a timely manner all such requests.

Slinging tuneage like some fried or otherwise soused short-order cook

Prompted by Other Blogs, Part 13

I'm always cruising around the interweb, looking for interesting music. I’ll see or hear something out there that sets me on a path.

I haven't done this series in a long time but today I was visiting A Few Good Times in My Life blog. Walter was reminiscing about UB40's first release Signing Off. Commentors were lamenting the sad decline of the band after their first three albums.

I'll be the first to admit that they put out a bunch of Live albums & lost direction discs & tapered off from their heyday, but I always thought that they had enough chestnuts throughout their catalogue to keep them vital. For me, one in particular...

Case in point.

UB40 - Homegrown, DEP International DEPCD22, 2003.

  2. Thanks NØ! I think it's great! I watched a documentary about the life of the band, from their socialist all-for-one and one-for-all roots, up to their breakup over finances. Kinda depressing, because the band started from a really sincere place of equal pay for the members of the band.
    Great music though! https://youtu.be/Uw2xg6BNjRU?si=GKRgRySV2b2m7cag

  3. I am a Food For Thought original lover. After that Red Red Wine and other top 40 stuff, I lost sight of them. So much more music to go to. In the early 2000s, around the time of this album, a friend brought me a suitcase full of 7''s a dj wanted me to rip. Amongst them were also UB40s. I did not know that when I was ripping them, so I could only say yes to UB40, for I liked what I ripped. This is another one vote for.

  4. Man Nathan bloggin' brotha' man this is a gem I didn't have...you really set the bar for us all in this bloggin' thang!! I just found out in searching a couple of hit songs at youtube by an artist that they arrange their short reels to coincide with the band I was listening to where you can watch one reel after another short videos about the band! Took Jonder and Stinky to help me figure that out since I wanted to hear the two Greg Kihn hit songs again and had left their post yesterday at work!) Team work moves mountains I say!!! Have a nice long weekend like I am as I await a wisdom tooth extraction early Tuesday morning finally after inventing ways to ease the pain: 1)organic coconut oil as carrier oil for essential oil of clove, fruits like pineapple or watermelon chunks since fruit has H30 structured water with capillary action to get into the bad bacteria area which we just discovered not long ago is how trees bring water from the ground and roots up to the leaves working up the inside of the tree against gravity, Purely Elizabeth. chocolate sea salt with probiotics has chocolate with caffeine that kills bacteria, salt which kills bad bacteria and good bacteria to bring back the optimum balance of good to bad gut bacteria of 80% good---also my whey protein from mercola has probiotics I take twice a day instead of antibiotics which would kill my good bacteria just like mouthwash does--another reason I swoosh 20 minutes each night after brushing with coconut oil that I also cook with since I limit my PUFA/MUFA's to 5 mg a day by quitting seed oils and nuts. Just finished my first OZ of hemp from the local store which carried me through as well. CHEERS HAPPY HOLIDAY you fellow blog worker stiff .."today is your (holi)day bro'" repeat twice
