Tomorrow is the Final match-up of the Series.
Some folks around here are mighthy glad.
The same bands, day after day, is just too much of a Thing.
Guess I just thought that everyone but the hardcore fans would just hook up the DVR
& record 'em for later.

    Tin of Drum is pleasant, almost poppy, but not in an annoying way. I like it, it's good, quite versatile, sometimes interesting. A fine Rapoon album, not an excellent one, though.
    In contrast, Popular Soviet Songs & Youth Music is excellent. It's one of the stranger an more mysterious Zoviet France albums. Even though I think it's completely different from yesterday's Shouting at the Ground, which I like a lot, Popular Soviet Songs is also one of my favourite ZF albums. It's like they're constantly teasing the listener by pretending that they are just about to play some proper music and then doing something different. To me it feels like I have to really contribute something myself in order to have a proper listening experience. A fascinating piece of work.
    Clear win for ZF.
    Looking forward to the grand finale.

      I really enjoy your reviews, especially when they are in contrast to mine. It helps me get a better view of these albums. Thank you for committing to this madness these last few weeks, I value your opinion and will likely revisit albums like this once this is all over and done.

    A tale of two opposites. This is minimal and very well done from Zoviet France, a classic for them and quite lengthy spread across 3CDs. Consistent and enjoyable if this is your thing. Rapoon is dense and layered, might be hard to digest if you aren't ready for it. Today it was just what I needed, and the track based off "Nasa-Arab" from Coil is a real treat, made me want to listen to "Stolen and Contaminated Songs" right afterwards.

    Rapoon wins this round for me, ZF was too much for one sitting and Rapoon grabbed and held my attention better today.

    Ok, I'll expand on yesterday's comment : Rapoon is always nice, well produced... and a bit boring (in my book!). I listened to TIn of Drum today and get confused with the other albuls from last days. It's all a big soup to me. I find the samples generally uninspiring, even when they go on ZF terrain. I love the percussive element but find it a little bit blended in the mix...
    ZF, on the other hand always interest me, each tune has a twist, and they like their sauce trippy, as myself... I listened to two of the three today, and although the production is a bit raw, it keeps me interested, with some of the sounds we'll find better developped in Shouting at the ground.
    Another easy one for ZF.
