I was looking through some older music & came across The Jesus & Mary Chain - 21 Singles. I thought I had more than that so I went searching. I was surprised at the outcome. I guess I had collected everything but the Live At The Fox Theatre In Detroit 3-song single that was available only at the opening of Third Man Records London on September 25th 2021. Other than that, I think I counted 31 singles over the course, which are presented here in four parts...89 tracks in all (note:if the same version of a certain song was on more than one single, I only used it once).
Here, for the one & only time, The Jesus & Mary Chain...
The Jesus & Mary Chain - 89 Singles tracks, NØ Comp., 2023.

FLoored on this one Nathin'....THanks for this outstanding post!!
ReplyDeleteWell, get up off the floor & dance.
DeleteI thought there'd be folks such as yerself that would appreciate having all these in kinda one neat bundle.
I fell out of love with the JAMC around 1988 and never really recovered from it. I'll be downloading the singles to try and give them another chance, but I'm not holding my breath.
ReplyDeleteThanks
All my friends at the time (80s) were always pushing me to like JAMC, but for some reason I just never clicked with them. But recently I realized I had somehow acquired much of their output.
DeleteAnother friend (& hard-core JAMC fan) prompted me to this posting. Must say I am still not really getting the huge appeal this band summoned.
I didn't need a push to like their first two singles, if anything I remember playing them consistantly to my friends. But by the time Darklands came out I was finding other avenues to enjoy and spend my money on (wow, that sounds like I was drinking ooodles of alchol and snorting ooodles of drugs). Revolting Cocks, Front 242, Ministry, Pop Will Eat Itself, Cabaret Voltaire and Fields Of The Nephilm had begun to reaquaint me with electro and goth...and they're still my staple go-to soundscapes
DeleteAs usual, my gratitude! What a fantastic post - didn't know I needed it until I saw it. Hard to go back to "21" after you've seen "89," though, like you, I still entertain some reservations. Still, many thanks for this deep vault dive.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment. Although I have those same reservations, somehow I had for one reason or another, at one time or another, accumulated all these songs. I have to admit I have listened to them all repeatedly at some points in the past. Just thought it would be kool to get them all together.
