Sandra Cross was a member of the Wild Bunch (members of this crew went on to form Massive Attack) in the mid/late 80s before going solo.

She is one of the "Roots Daughters": female Reggae vocalists singing conscious lyrics over serious music along with Aisha ('Queen of the Roots Daughters').
This is another one of the three Showcase albums released in 2023 (I previously shared the Susan Cadogan outing). Here Mad Professor teams up with one of his all-time favorite chanteuses, Sandra Cross.
This showcase features sounds with soulful heartical vibes mixed skillfully by the true Dub Master.

Oh My Gosh!! Thanks NØ for these two gems. Sandra Cross has one of the best voices in the business (IMO!) and she always makes my heart glad.
ReplyDeleteGreetings to anyone who remembers Montpelier & St Paul's in the 80s - what good times they were!

Your opinion is my opinion. Saved her for next to last cuz I just love her voice. Supreme!
ReplyDeleteBeing from the US, I'm not privy to much of the greatness of the UK. I do know that after the April 1980 St Pauls riots, the Bristol scene of Sound Systems & graffiti artists exploded into the Bristol sound & that the Wild Bunch & Robert Del Naja (as well as Banksy) were a big part of that. I know that the Montpelier & St Pauls area was the epicenter of that sound.
Thanks NØ for the tunes and information!
