On any post, if the link is no longer good, leave a comment if you want the music re-uploaded. As long as I still have the file, or the record, cd, or cassette to re-rip, I will gladly accommodate in a timely manner all such requests.

  2. To me Raising Earthly Spirits is one of the stronger Rapoon albums. In general, I like the quiet and dark ambient drones more than rhythmic Rapoon. And there are some really good pieces on this album (especially Ochre), even though some would have benefitted from being a bit shorter. Still one of the Rapoon albums that I really like.
The Hessian Album, in contrast, sounds too unfocused for me. Of course, there are some interesting and entertaining moments, but I don't see a clear sense of purpose - except for figuring out what Zoviet France (or whatever spelling one prefers to use ...) should actually sound like. This sounds much more like a first attempt than Garista, which is definitely a far more accomplished effort.
Clear win for Rapoon this time.

  3. This ZF album is, well, an outlier even for them. Difficult music is how I'd best describe it. Ji-Boys is about the only track I would listen to more than once. Its their very early days, and I suppose they were experimenting and trying to find their sound. This isn't it, and they moved on to some excellent material very quickly after this was released.

Rapoon's effort is mellow and pleasant. Rhythmic without much percussion, dense ambience with some white noise. I think the album name perfectly fits the music.

Rapoon is an easy win this round.

    1. Finally a definitive win for Rapoon it seems. When both our main experts agree & for pricipally the same reasons, it appears we are on good standing to give this round to the Robins. Perhaps Rapoon has been holding back, perhaps Zoviet France just to decided to rest on their sizable lead for a Round. We'll have to see how things unfold.
