On any post, if the link is no longer good, leave a comment if you want the music re-uploaded. As long as I still have the file, or the record, cd, or cassette to re-rip, I will gladly accommodate in a timely manner all such requests.

Slinging tuneage like some fried or otherwise soused short-order cook

Prompted by other blogs, Part 12

I'm always cruising around the interweb, looking for interesting music. I'll see or hear something out there that sets me on a path.

Anyone familiar here at all is familiar with jonder, long-time Frenz of this here mess. We first came in contact many years ago when I had just started NSS & jonder had the great blog Underneathica. We came together over our shared love for particular musicks & our mutual respect for each other’s dedication to quality musickal sharing. In the years since then we have become friends away from the blogsphere as well, sharing musick, books, & conversations. He has contributed numerous posts here in the past & now with his cohort Stinky, mans the helm at the fantastic jonderblog. You've probably read many of his insightfully humorous comments hereabouts.

The other day he announced the upcoming  reissue of Pearl Harbor (yes, that one with all the explosions going on)'s 1980 solo album Don't Follow Me, I'm Lost Too which led to Paul Simonon & Nigel Dixon which led to Havana 3 A.M. which led to this.

Here's some reggae rockabilly from: Gary Myrick - electric & acoustic guitar, vocals: Nigel Dixon - rhtythm guitar, lead vocals; Paul Simonon - bass, harmonica, vocals; & Travis Williiams - drums & other percussion. This one's in FLAC for once.

Havana 3a.m. - Havana 3 A.M., I.R.S. Records EIRSA 1047, 1991.

  3. Your words (and your friendship) mean a lot to me, Nathan. One of the best things to come out of blogging was "meeting" you.

Perfect timing on the Havana 3am album! Stinky and I were just chatting about the late Nigel Dixon, and he mentioned that Gary Myrick once took over lead guitar duties from Stevie Ray Vaughan in a Texas blues-rock band.

Paul Simonon recently made an album with Galen Ayers (Kevin Ayers' daughter) and Tony Visconti!

  4. Ah, shucks.

    Back attcha, brother.

Wasn’t really aware of Galen & Paul. All kinds of connections going on with that one. The Good, the Bad, & the Queen / Gorillaz / Big Audio Dynamite without even incorporating Tony Visconti or touching on the Kevin Ayers thing.

    Keep keeping musick alive.

  5. The follow-up Gary Myrick & Havana 3am – Texas Glitter & Tombstone Tales is pretty decent too!

    1. Never really got my head around the follow-up for some reason. Had it & traded it for something else a while ago. Maybe I should give it another listen now.
