On any post, if the link is no longer good, leave a comment if you want the music re-uploaded. As long as I still have the file, or the record, cd, or cassette to re-rip, I will gladly accommodate in a timely manner all such requests.

Slinging tuneage like some fried or otherwise soused short-order cook

Why, oh Rhye

Last month in Musick that Needs Work - M, I fixed up Milosh - iii. Milosh for a while (2012 - 2017) teamed up with Robin Hannibal under the moniker Rhye. They initially released their music (singles "Open" & "The Fall") independently & mysteriously on the internet only.

Interest in their sound led to more main-stream exposure. There was great interest as well as speculation amongst music journalists & reviewers about the group's identity, which they never fully revealed. The thing that threw most opinions askew was Milosh's high & sigh androgynous contralto vocals. His voice & Rhye's over-all sound has been likened to Sade or The xx.

Here we will explore Rhye's earlier works...

  2. Thanks NØ. Loved "Woman" all that time ago. Looking forward to listening to the Milosh "iii" as that one passed me by. That's what I love about your blog - all the twists and turns of a fairground ride!

  3. Wow, Thanks really for this,
Discovered Hannibal through IOU, a really beautiful album with some of the sweetest vocal arrangements he´s made. Reccomended if you don´t have it.
I´ll give this a good listen then.
    Cheers.
