Dug these out the other day & listened to them for the first time in quite a while. These are the first things I ever owned from the Buttholes.
Although they cover much the tame surf, I mean, same turf, they are well worthy of a share. These are the waves the Surfers were riding at the time. Chronicles of an era, in studio version & live. The live set simply ramps up the craziness to the power of 10. Charlie might not surf but Gibby & Co. do.
Surf's up, punk.

after the smegma post was wondering if you were a bs fan...coincidentally i've been working on this, a 'redux' with a few era-consistent extras...if you have time to listen to it i'd be interested in your thoughts on the sequence i chose...also would be interested in your stance on the disappearance of 'negro observer' from 'psychic...' here it is anyway; https://we.tl/t-NV0uWzlXfN
ReplyDeleteGlad you added Cream Corn (another of my faves) - “Moving to Florida” is top bongo & Humpty Dumpty LSD (great putting "Perry (intro)" w/ "Perry".)
DeleteDon’t really have an opinion about “Negro Observer”. I know that Spotify & Itunes removed the song from their online Psychic. Then a Matador re-issue without the track & a bunch of people with no real information arguing if Matador sucks or BS got woke. All I know is most previous issues of the release has the song, that I have the song. I don’t really get anything racist about the tune so I don’t really know what it’s all about.
I really enjoyed your version of Rembrandt. Most pleasurable.
Many thanks for this. Hadn't listened to BS for quite some time. Also thanks to Anonymous for this chance to revisit Rembrandt! Best wishes from Munich!
ReplyDeleteThanks, brother. Anonymous has been known to drop some heavy hits here...once again, for sure.
DeleteAlways wonderful seeing BS getting some love.
ReplyDeleteAre we allowed to say Butthole love here? Thanks, Mooz.
