On any post, if the link is no longer good, leave a comment if you want the music re-uploaded. As long as I still have the file, or the record, cd, or cassette to re-rip, I will gladly accommodate in a timely manner all such requests.

Bulgaria

Man, am I confused? No…Yes…I don’t know anymore. I’m here in Bulgaria. When they nod their heads up & down (yes), they mean ‘NO’ & when they nod their heads side to side (no), they mean ‘YES’. This confusion has (has not) affected my musical judgement. All this music isn’t (really is) very good. Don’t (do) enjoy. Nevermind (no…yes…).

Ogonek (Valerie Sholevski) of Sofia, Bulgaria has become known in the Bulgarian drum & bass scene as Ogonek since 2000 although he started his electronic projects as far back as 1997. He helped in the creation of the label Porno BPM with artist Kei, Sub & KiNK (one of the label artists Josh Wink - Ovum).

After a meeting in 2001 with Ivan Shopov (COOH, BALKANSKY), the iconic duo OGONEK & COOH was formed, exploring both artists common attraction to the experimental & the heavy sound of electronic music. The two created five garage bootleg albums between 2001 to 2003.

In 2004 Valerie becomes part of HMSU - the biggest drum & bass movement in Bulgaria.

In 2008 together with dj Mad Twist, Sholevski created Metafiziq Recordings, a label now well recognized in the international drum & bass scene, featuring such artists as Dub Elements, Venganza, Erre (Spain), Gancher & Ruin, CVI (Russia), Digital Soul, Kigami (Bulgaria), Nico Sica (France), Block Dodger (UK), Kaiza (Germany), YMB (Netherlands), Fragz (Portugal), Joanna Syze, & Emoshin (USA).

In 2010, Valeri, in conjunction with Bassline Agency (USA), organized one of the biggest international events of the heavy drum & bass scene, the Therapy Sessions Sofia.

COOH (Ivan Shopov) first started in music playing bass guitar in a hardcore-metal band when he was 16. At age 18 he got involved with creating electronic music, producing drum & bass releases for the past 12 years. Now at the age of 29, he has more than 60 vinyl & more than 20 CD releases.

Together with Valery Sholevski (Ogonek), in 2001 he began intense promotion of drum & bass music within the borders of Bulgaria, sending out a "patriotic" message to the young generation, playing a lot in the busiest clubs in Sofia, mainly with the H.M.S.U. crew. As time passed by, his style gradually changed & solidified into its current hard dark drum & bass sound.

Jazz U is a collection of his works created during the years 2003 - 2006. It is an eclectic mix of jazz, electronica, lounge & pop tunes. “Drop of Whisper” is one of my favorite tracks, reminiscent of Lebanese Blonde era Thievery Corporation. This is some great chill-out, if you dig that stuff. I’m really partial to it, being a narco-anarchist, so…
