Although Trip-hop came about as a British amalgam of UK Sound System, rave culture, Dub, & hip- hop, although the name was almost universally despied by the original Brit progenitors, the rest of the world was hugely receptive to the style & not the least wary of the label.
In Austria, Mona Moore, Andy Orel, & Richard Dorfmeister formed the group Sin to create their take on Trip-hop. By 1993, Dortmeister had left Sin & joined up with Peter Kruder. They began releasing Kruder & Dortmeister records for Vienna's Spray Records.
One of the producers at Spray was Klaus Waldeck, who released his own brand of Trip-hop under the name Waldeck. Waldeck's work was similar to K & D's style, though many of his productions reflect the recruitment of various vocalists, similar to Massive Attack.
After contributing a track to the Spray compilation The Eclectic Sound of Vienna, Waldeck released his debut full-length Balance of the Force in 1998.
